Manchester United have reportedly been told they will not be able to enter talks with Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. MEN Sport understands Erik ten Hag is on the lookout for a new striker in the summer with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane the top target.
However, should Spurs refuse to sell their star asset, United have drawn up a list of alternatives who they would be open to approaching.
According to Gazzetta, Argentina World Cup winner Martinez is on said list. It is reported that both United and Tottenham sent representatives to the San Siro to discuss the possibility of signing the 25-year-old after the Champions League clash with Benfica. ALSO READ: United Confident of more contract renewals But, the firm message in Italy from Inter was understood to be: "No, we don’t even want to talk about Lautaro." Martinez has scored 21 goals in all appearances this season and, as mentioned, played his part in helping Argentina win the Qatar World Cup.
He has a further three years left on his deal so the advantage is firmly with Inter should United wish to progress with a transfer.
