Manchester United are ready to compete with Premier League rivals Tottenham for Uruguay defender Sebastian Caceres next summer - according to reports.
The Manchester Evening News understands United are initially planning to make four signings next summer and a new centre-back is firmly on their shopping list.
They wanted to replace Harry Maguire in the position this summer, but he turned down a £30million switch to West Ham. That effectively put a roadblock on further additions with United already having splashed out £183million on Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund to strengthen in three other positions.
But the club have been tipped to revive their defensive pursuit.
