Manchester United have 'opened the door' to sign wantaway France winger Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona - according to reports.
Having finished as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League last season, key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom issued a triple statement of intent; signing Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and returning five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
United missed out on a top-level defensive midfielder at that stage. Manchester Evening News understands that has been identified as a priority for the next two windows and Declan Rice is still viewed as target number one in that regard.
Amadou Haidara, Boubacar Kamara, Denis Zakaria and Ruben Neves from Wolves have also been earmarked. However, they continue to be linked with swoops in attacking quarters, too, after Barcelona issued a major update on former United target Dembele and his future this morning.
