Gary Neville believes Cristiano Ronaldo was too "erratic" in the early stages of his Manchester United career but hailed the way he became one of the best in the world.

Ronaldo moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2003 for just over £12m from Sporting Lisbon. And although he went on to become one of the greatest players in world football, the winger initially found life tough going in England.
