Manchester's biggest ice rink will return for Halloween and Christmas 2023

Manchester city centre will once again play host to a giant ice rink later this year. A staple in Manchester’s Halloween celebrations, the hugely popular Scare Skate will open in time for October half term, before the attraction is transformed for Christmas.

There'll be Halloween-themed music, lighting and themed props to 'ignite the fright factor'. Fancy dress is encouraged as skaters are invited to capture those all-important photo worthy moments on the ice. Following the opening week of Scare Skate, from October 27 to 31, the ghoulish spider will go into hibernation as the 'dazzling' seven-metre-tall Christmas tree transforms Cathedral Gardens into 'the ultimate winter wonderland'.

Kelly Baker, director of Managed Ice Rinks, who coordinates the event, said: "Halloween is an integral part of the Manchester calendar, and we are thrilled to see Scare Skate play an important part in the city celebrations for another year. "Scare Skate is the perfect activity to bring the family together this season and we are looking forward to celebrating Halloween in the Cathedral Gardens grounds before transforming the rink into a winter wonderland in November.” Tickets for Scare Skate are available now, with prices starting at £15.50 for adults and £12.50 for children, with discounted family, group bookings and season tickets also available.
