Flights at Manchester Airport were hit by thick fog tonight (December 26), with long delays being reported for arrivals A spokesperson for the airport said airports across the country were also experiencing delays because of the weather conditions, which have also seen Boxing Day football matches called off in the north west.
Passengers with flights at Manchester, however, are being told to continue to arrive at the airport in line with their airline's advice - namely two hours in advance for short haul flights and three hours for long haul.
Holidaymakers posted updates on social media. One said: "Just when you want to get home, we are sat on plane, delayed for an hour due to fog at Manchester Airport." The arrivals board on Manchester Airport's website suggests the disruption has affected flights all day.
Most flights scheduled to arrive at the airport this afternoon seem to have been delayed, with some landing up to two hours late.
