Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Manchester United kept up the heat on fourth-placed Chelsea with victory at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side claimed bragging rights thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay to cut the gap to the Blues back to three points.
United took the lead with half an hour gone as Martial volleyed in from a free-kick. Bruno Fernandes chipped a ball over the wall and Martial ran on before hitting a shot that Ederson allowed to go under his hand as he dived to his right.
City keeper Ederson almost gifted United a second when he made a hash of a back pass before hacking the ball to safety. Sergio Aguero had the ball in the net after the break, but his effort was chalked off by the linesman.
