Manchester United are on the verge of completing a £40million deal to sign Donny van de Beek from Ajax. Van de Beek has been attracting interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona this summer, with both clubs reportedly keen on bringing him to Spain.
However, it was United’s Premier League rivals Tottenham who recently emerged as leading contenders to prise him away from Ajax.
Jose Mourinho is said to have been plotting a late move for the Dutchman as he attempts to strengthen his Spurs midfield ahead of the new season.
Yet according to The Mirror , Mourinho is set to lose out to former club United. Van de Beek will reportedly arrive at Old Trafford in a switch worth £40million over the next few days, having been identified as a top transfer.
