Manchester United fans hoping for a director of football to be appointed in the near future look set for a longer wait. That's because executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is unlikely to appoint someone to that role, according to the Athletic.
United have been without a director of football in recent years, with Woodward himself filling that position in a de-facto capacity when it comes to transfer dealings.
Speculation has been rife that the Red Devils would finally fill the vacancy, with some big names touted for the job. But speaking on the Athletic's Ornstein and Chapman podcast , David Ornstein says it's unlikely anyone will be brought in anytime soon.
