A swathe of Manchester United players have shown their support for Ruud van Nistelrooy, who left the club on Monday following an unbeaten four-game run as interim boss.
The Dutchman, who ended his tenure with a 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday, had outlined his desire to stay on as an assistant under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
However, Van Nistelrooy will leave Old Trafford having not been offered a role by Amorim, who was seen flying to Manchester with his Sporting CP backroom team ahead of his first day at United on Monday. He was given the role of interim boss until the arrival of Amorim, following the sacking of Ten Hag. The Portuguese head coach is unable to take training just yet as he waits for his visa to be approved, which is expected to come though next week.
