Manchester United and Manchester City could acquire Dani Olmo for free in five days' time after a court rejected Barcelona’s attempts to register the playmaker under La Liga rules amid their poor financial position.
The Commercial Court number 10 of Barcelona ruled that the Spanish club did not meet the requirements within league regulations to warrant a temporary registration being passed.
As a result, Olmo - a £50million summer signing - could be allowed to leave for nothing next month unless Barcelona can manoeuvre finances and thus be able to register him within La Liga’s financial framework before New Year’s Day.
The player’s agent, Andy Bara, appears to have made a Boxing Day trip to Manchester, sparking speculation that enquiries could be submitted to City and United.
