Man taken to hospital after being rescued from house fire

A man had to be rescued from his home this afternoon after a fire broke out. Residents reported a large emergency services presence in the Royton area around 3pm with smoke seen billowing from a property.

The fire service confirmed that they were called to a house fire on Kirkdale Drive around this time, with firefighters from three stations rushing to the scene.

It took firefighters two hours to put out the blaze. A man had to be rescued from the property and was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service. READ MORE:Dramatic footage shows car engulfed in flames in nursery car park A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 3pm this afternoon (23 August) firefighters were called to reports of a house on fire on Kirkdale Drive, Oldham. “Fire crews from Chadderton, Oldham and Rochdale fire stations arrived quickly at the scene.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and helped to extricate one male casualty from the property, who was conveyed to hospital via our colleagues at North West Ambulance Service.
