Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

Man seriously injured after car smashes into tree

A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a tree in Oldham. Emergency services were called to Standedge Road, in Diggle, shortly after 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon (February 6) following reports of a collision.

Specialist equipment was used to rescue the man from the car. Standedge Road was closed for almost six hours as emergency services responded to the incident.

The road reopened shortly after 8pm. Police confirmed no arrests have been made. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson confirmed: “At around 2.30pm on Sunday 6 February 2022, police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a tree on Standedge Road, Diggle. “Emergency services attended and a 62-year-old man was taken to hospital with a serious arm injury.” A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said on Sunday: "At approximately 14:40 today (6 February) two fire engines from Oldham and Mossley fire stations, and a technical response unit from Ashton-under-Lyne were called to reports of a road traffic accident involving one car on Standedge Road in Oldham. "Firefighters quickly attended and used specialist equipment to rescue one male from the car who was then conveyed to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.
