Man rushed to hospital after Perth house fire burns for eight hours

A man had to be rushed to hospital on Friday after a Perth house became engulfed in an inferno which raged for nearly eight hours.

Emergency services were called to the dramatic scene on Crieff Road in Tulloch, at 8.14pm on January 21.Shocking images from the fire emerged online, showing massive flames burning from the roof of the property with thick, black smoke billowing into the night sky.Four appliances and a height appliance were deployed by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, while officers from Police Scotland also raced to the scene to set up road closures as the fire raged on.Brave fire crews managed to douse the blaze and get the situation under control just before 5am and remained at the property to sift through the wreckage and make the area safe, eventually leaving at 7.30am on Saturday morning.The injured person was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment but their condition is not currently known.A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.14pm on Friday, January 21 to reports of a dwelling fire at Crieff Road, Perth.“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and one height vehicle and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting the ground floor of a semi-detached property.“One casualty was in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”A fire also swept through the same house in April 2008, causing extensive damage to the whole property and decimating the roof.
