Man rushed to hospital after being hacked with machete in front doorstep attack

A man was attacked with a machete on the front doorstep of a home as horrified witnesses watched on. The unnamed victim, in his 50s, received wounds to his hand and arm after being hacked by the large blade in Southport town centre, said police.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Lord Street, which is home to Wayfarers Shopping Arcade and other businesses, following 999 calls at 5.10pm on Wednesday.

Road closures were quickly put in place as officers cordoned off the road and launched an investigation into the attack, reports the Liverpool Echo.
