Since then, it has been a remarkable run that has seen them fly up to the top of the Premier League. Credit must go to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was under huge pressure at the start of the season.
But United are in the midst of one of their best campaigns in years, despite their early exit from the Champions League. All that is missing is a trophy and the FA Cup could be the one for Solskjaer.
