A man was rescued from a car and taken to hospital after a crash in Openshaw on Tuesday afternoon (August 27). Police and paramedics attended the collision on Greenside Street at around 3.40pm.

The road was blocked as emergency crews, involving the fire service, worked at the scene. The crash involved two cars, with one man later extricated from one of the vehicles.

He was taken to hospital after being treated by paramedics at the scene. Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers had been called to the scene following reports of a two vehicle crash.

No serious injuries were reported. READ MORE Horrific moment masked thugs pour petrol across shop floor and set it alight A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 3.40pm this afternoon (Tuesday 27 August), two fire engines from Gorton Community Fire Station, and the Technical Response Unit from Leigh Community Fire Station, were called to attend a road traffic collision involving two cars on Greenside Street, Manchester. “Crews arrived quickly and extricated one male casualty who was then conveyed to hospital by North West Ambulance Service. “Firefighters used specialist equipment to make the area safe before departing after approximately one hour at the scene.”
