A man has tragically died after he was hit by a Mercedes along the M62 on Sunday night. Police were called to the motorway between junction 8 and 9 at around 9.30pm.
Officers found that a Mercedes X350 had collided with a male pedestrian along the stretch of motorway near Warrington. Sadly, the 51-year-old man, who was local to the area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation has been launched by Cheshire Police following the tragedy. No arrests have been made at this stage. North West emergency services attended the scene. In an alert at 4am, National Highways: North-West announced: "The #M62 in #Cheshire between J8 and J9 is now fully open in both directions.
