A man who punched an NHS worker to the face and called a nurse a 'slag' after turning up at A&E following a drug overdose has been jailed.
Daniel Shelvin, 27, has also been banned from five of Greater Manchester's hospitals for five years, unless he needs life saving treatment or has an urgent appointment.
Shelvin was locked up for two years following the incident at Salford Royal Hospital on Sunday, March 29, at about 1.45pm. He had been to A&E five times in the previous two weeks and was asking for help, Manchester Crown Court heard.
On the day of the incident he said he had taken an overdose of prescription medication. Shelvin had been booked in and was in the waiting room, when he asked a nurse for some orange juice.
