Man grabbed woman by the neck and threw her down stairs is jailed

For the latest news from in and around Oldham sign up to the MyOldham newsletter here A dad-of-three who grabbed a woman by the throat before launching her down a flight of stairs has been jailed for a number of offences.

Shaun Carruthers, 34, was hauled before Bolton Crown Court on Tuesday to answer for a host of charges involving violent incidents, including starting a beer garden brawl and accidentally stabbing a man in the chest in the street.

The first of the attacks took place on the evening of April 14, 2018. A victim emerged from her home at an address in Royton after hearing sounds of children and a second woman ‘screaming’, and someone ‘banging on her door’.
