Man found dead in Manchester city centre after 'concern for welfare report'

A man was found dead in Manchester city centre this morning after emergency services were called to 'reports of concern for his welfare'.

Police and paramedics were called to Jack Rosenthal Street at around 6,.10am today (Monday). Sadly, a man - aged in his 50s - was pronounced dead on the scene.

An investigation is now ongoing. A cordon remains in place in an area lined with bars and restaurants off First Street. A number of police vehicles are stationed on the scene. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 6.10am this morning (Monday 29 April 2024), we were called to reports of a concern for welfare of a man on Jack Rosenthal Street in the city centre. "Despite the best efforts of the North West Ambulance Service, sadly, a man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.
