A man is fighting for his life after being hit by a car while crossing the road. Officers were called out to Dickenson Road, in Longsight, at 9.30pm on Monday (September 2).

Greater Manchester Police believes that the car was being driven at speed and on the wrong side of the road when the collision took place, at the junction with Anson Road.

The driver failed to stop at the scene. But a short while later, on Adelphi Street in Salford, officers arrested two men - aged 19 and 21 - on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving in connection with the incident.

GMP says the victim, a 33-year-old man, suffered serious injuries that are believed to be life threatening. READ MORE: Man rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries after Longsight Market stabbing Witnesses are being urged to come forward as officers continue their investigation.
