A man managed to escape from a blaze that broke out in a block of flats. Emergency services rushed to Tennyson Avenue, in Bury, late last night (Saturday August 6) following reports of a fire in a first floor flat.
A man has 'self-rescued' by the time that firefighters arrived, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed.
The fire prompted a major response and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were also in attendance. Crews spent just under an hour-and-a-half at the scene. Fire engines from Bury, Whitefield and Broughton stations quickly attended the scene. "The fire involved a first floor flat.
