Cheshire Police were called at 3.58pm on Wednesday (12 May) between junction 20 at the Lymm interchange and Junction 19 at Northwich.
Officers found that a red Mazda had collided with a bridge. The driver of the Mazda, a man, sadly died at the scene. No further details about his age or identity have been revealed at this time.
His next of kin have been informed. A female passenger in the Mazda was taken to hospital for serious injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.
