But thanks to the crossbar and some defiant stops from Manchester United 'keeper Mary Earps, Sarina Wiegman’s side held on to force extra time and a shootout - despite star Lauren James being sent off.
And following two missed Nigerian penalties, Kelly rifled the decisive spotkick into the top corner to book England a quarter-final spot.
