Manchester City produced a ruthless display to make it back-to-back wins at the start of their latest Premier League title defence, with three goals in four first-half minutes dispatching a plucky Ipswich side 4-1.
City were stunned early on when Sammie Szmodics timed his run perfectly to finish under Ederson, but while the Ipswich end erupted into ecstasy, the goal only angered the hosts.
Savinho won a penalty within minutes that Erling Haaland dispatched, before former Blues keeper Aro Muric then erred to allow Kevin De Bruyne an open goal from 25 yards.
Haaland rounded Muric to score a second just four minutes after his first, and City had quickly turned a deficit into a 3-1 lead that Ipswich had no answer to.
