Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
There is currently a buzz within Manchester United about youngster Toby Collyer. The casual observer might think Collyer didn't pull up trees in academy games, but he's been considered a leading prospect at Carrington since he signed from Brighton in 2022.
A source said this summer that Erik ten Hag 'really likes' Collyer and another source said he records 'freakish' running stats in training that are only bettered by Bruno Fernandes.
Collyer has gone under the radar in the last two years but that's beginning to change. The midfielder made his Premier League debut in dramatic circumstances last weekend when replacing Casemiro at half-time and there should be more top-flight appearances to come. Collyer enjoyed a promising summer and there have been signs along the way that he can earn a prominent first-team role. He was named as a substitute eight times last season and Ten Hag was spotted in conversation with the 20-year-old after the FA Cup final.
