Manchester City fans will always have a place in their heart for Elano Blumer. The ex-Brazil international became the poster boy for the first influx of signings under Thaksin Shinawatra’s ownership, back in 2007.
His skills and flair with the ball, not to mention the ferocity of his long-range shots, was a stark contrast to the drab football City supporters had been enduring.
Elano was one of eight new players to arrive that summer as City looked to begin a new era with Sven-Goran Eriksson as manager.
However, just as the Brazilian helped to shift the image of the club, the City icon now looks somewhat different from his playing days.
