Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made a tongue-in-cheek reference to Romelu Lukaku’s saved header from close range when explaining his Champions League final success.
The Inter striker saw his effort from inside the six-yard box crash off the legs of Ederson and deflect away for a corner in the dying stages of the showpiece in Istanbul.
Many after the game said Lukaku should have done better with the effort. It seems Guardiola himself thinks so too. He was recently questioned about former club Barcelona’s fortunes and was asked what he would do to build on this year’s La Liga success.
He replied, as per Marca: "They have won the league and the club knows what they have to do. Xavi and [club director] Mateu Alemany know much better than me what they have to do.
