Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has dismissed speculation he is trying to sign Jesse Lingard for current club DC United.
Rooney has been in charge at his former side for nearly a year having left Derby County during their financial struggles. The 37-year-old is in charge of his first full season at the Washington-based franchise with his side sitting eighth in the first Final Series Play-Off spot in the MLS Eastern Conference.
With the transfer window now open in Europe, rumours have been floating around about players following in the footsteps of Lionel Messi and moving to the MLS.
One name being touted is Lingard. The 30-year-old was released by Nottingham Forest after making 20 appearances in all competitions.
