Shaun Goater has joined Manchester City as a role model as well as a coach, according to the head of the academy. Jason Wilcox has been in charge of the club's youngsters for the last four years after stepping up from the role of Under-18s coach, and oversaw the recruitment process that saw fan favourite Goater join the set-up as part of a scheme with the Premier League to get more BAME coaches into the game.
The former striker will be working across the age groups at the academy for an initial period of two years.
