However, manager Pep Guardiola has yet again defied the odds by producing a brand of football that has seen his side score a hatful of goals even without a recognised striker.
Combine that with the recent injuries suffered by Delap and you begin to understand why we've not seen much of the 18-year-old.
Nevertheless, Delap still has a huge future ahead of him and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him one day become the spearhead of City's attack.
