Man charged following death of beloved grandad after A6 crash

A man has been charged following the death of a beloved grandad after a crash on the A6 in Stockport. Robert Palmer, 77, died in hospital following the incident on Buxton Road, near the junction with Fence Street, close to the Sainsbury's supermarket and Stepping Hill Hospital, on Thursday (November 9) Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

In a tribute released by police following Mr Palmer's tragic death, his loved ones said: "Our beloved Robert (Bob) was taken from us too early and so suddenly that our family, friends and community are struggling to come to terms with our loss. "A family man and grandad, Robert will be deeply missed and we have been overwhelmed by the showing of emotion and support by the many people that knew and loved him."
