Man charged after 'much-loved' mum killed following collision with HGV lorry in Glasgow

A man has been charged after a woman was killed when an HGV lorry struck a cyclist in Glasgow.Cops scrambled to Drymen Road in Bearsden after being alerted to the incident at around 8:10am on Tuesday, March 19.

Una Brandreth, 56, from Stafford in England was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. A 61-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences and will appear in court at a later dateUna's family released a statement following the tragedy, they said: “Una was a much loved sister, mother, and daughter, and will be much missed by everyone who knew her. “We are asking for privacy at what is a very difficult time for us all as we come to terms with our loss.”“We would like to say that we are massively grateful to all the emergency services that were involved in this tragic incident and to everybody else that stopped to help Una.” A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 61-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal crash on Drymen Road in Bearsden. "The incident happened around 8.10am on Tuesday, 19 March, 2024, at the junction with Manse Road and involved a lorry and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a 56-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. "The man, the HGV driver, has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences and will appear in court at a later date."
