A man broke into a woman's home in the early hours and sexually assaulted her as she slept. Now police have urged residents in the area to be extra vigilant.
The attack happened at an address in Warrington. Police were alerted at 5.30am on Sunday, October 2. Officers found that an unknown man had entered the property where he attacked the female occupant, who had been asleep.
A 26-year-old man was initially arrested in connection with the incident but has now been released on police bail. Cheshire Constabulary say detectives continue to follow numerous lines of enquiry and are urging the residents in the area to remain vigilant by ensuring they keep windows and doors locked.
Superintendent Mike Evans said: “I have a team of experienced detectives working hard to understand the full circumstances of this incident and we are doing all we can to bring the person responsible to justice.
