Man bitten and threatened with screwdriver after having wallet stolen

A violent criminal bit and threatened his victim with a screwdriver after taking his wallet and used his stolen credit card at a Co-op store.

Carl Phillips, 49, from Weaste Road in Salford was approached by his victim after using his stolen bank card at the Co-op in Wallingford Road, Basingstoke on September 23.

The victim, a man in his 30s, had reported his wallet stolen and his bank card being used in the shop. After subsequently confronting Philips inside the store the man was assaulted and threatened with a screwdriver.

Police were called to the scene and arrested Phillips, recovering multiple bank cards, a bag of suspected Class A drugs, over £1,400 in cash, and a screwdriver, in the process.
