Police have today arrested a man on suspicion of kidnap after a woman who was 'forced into the back of a car' was found safe and well.

On Tuesday (August 16), an urgent appeal was issued to determine the welfare of a woman who appeared to be put into the back of a car on Taunton Road, Ashton under Lyne.

Shortly before 11pm on Monday evening, police had received a call reporting somebody had seen a young woman forced into the back of a small silver car by a man close to the Dog and Partridge pub.
