Man arrested after pedestrian killed in crash

A man in his 70s has been arrested following a crash that led to the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car while crossing the road.

Police were called to reports of the collision at the junction of Mowbray Drive on Plymouth Road, Blackpool on Monday (February 10).

A pedestrian, believed to be in his 70s and from St Annes, suffered serious injuries, and was taken to hospital, where he sadly died.

He has not yet been formally identified and enquiries are ongoing to try and trace his next of kin. Lancashire Police confirmed a man in his 70s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident.
