A man has been arrested after homes on a street were evacuated amid fears of a gas leak. Fire crews, police and paramedics attended Petersburg Road in Edgeley, Stockport, at around 11am on Friday morning.
The Manchester Evening Newsunderstands a number of properties and residents were evacuated. A cordon was put in place at the scene.
One resident told the M.E.N. they were told they needed to evacuate their homes. Sean Passant, one of the evacuated residents, said fire officers at the scene told him the incident was a suspected gas leak. Another resident said homes were evacuated for around 40 minutes. It's understood the cordon was lifted and residents were allowed back to their homes at around 1.40pm.
