Former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has said he is 'obviously disappointed' after a judge ordered a retrial over allegations he assaulted his ex-girlfriend.
Mr Giggs said he was 'confident justice will eventually be done and my name will be cleared' after a judge ordered a retrial on July 31 next year.
He issued a statement after prosecutors said they would seek a further trial a week after a jury could not reach verdicts on the charges he faced during the original trial.
He said: "After more than three weeks in court I am obviously disappointed that a retrial has been ordered. My not guilty plea remains in relation to all charges.
