By Tom Tapp Deputy Managing Editor When asked in her Monday news conference if she had heard of the “disaster” at Malibu beaches over the weekend, Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said, “We got reports over.” Local Malibu reporter and KBUU radio boss Hanz Leitz, who had asked the question, provided more color. “Seventy to ninety percent” of those on Zuma Beach did not have masks.
Leitz said local gates were pried open, parking nightmares abounded and people threw loud parties at night to watch biolumimescene in the waves.
The “common courtesy” of wearing masks on the sane “was widely ignored at Zuma Beach,” said Leitz in a Facebook post. Some residents said Broadbeach was more crowded 4th of Julys in recent years,
