Major Scots road closed still closed hours after serious car crash

A major Scots road has been left closed for hours after a serious car crash. Commuters have been asked to find alternative routes between Dundee and Longforan after the incident on the A90.

The crash is understood to have occurred at around 1am on Monday morning, shutting down the westbound section of the road.The southbound carriageway also remains shut between the Swallow Roundabout and Longforgan as does lane two northbound.Diversions have instead been made available via the A923 to Coupar Angus, or the A92 Tay Road Bridge, the police have confirmed.Traffic Scotland's latest tweet at 6am reads: "The Southbound carriageway of the A90 remains closed between the Swallow Roundabout and Longforgan following a serious collision. "Lane two (Of two) is also closed Northbound.

Traffic is coping well at the minute but best allow extra time."Police Scotland took to their social media channels to make commuters aware of the situation on the busy road.

They wrote: "Due to a serious road traffic collision the A90 westbound between Dundee and Longforgan is currently closed."Diversion routes have been put in place via the A923 to Coupar Angus, or the A92 Tay Road Bridge."Please follow the signage for these routes."
