Major response to serious crash as blue tent erected and reports of person lying in the road

A major emergency response raced to the scene of a serious crash near Westhoughton on Monday night (October 28). A person was reportedly seen lying in the road being treated by paramedics following the collision.

Police, paramedics and fire crews attended the incident on Chew Moor Lane at around 7pm. A huge scene was put in place, with the road cordoned off from Heatons Grove.

There are unconfirmed reports a pedestrian was involved. A blue evidence tent was erected at the scene as officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit were seen conducting investigations. Pictures from the scene showed a number of officers at the scene, with a blue car seen badly damaged at the roadside. An electrical box in the street had also been badly damaged in the collision, a witness said.
