A major city centre road has been closed by police because of a 'suspected gas leak', according to a public transport company.
Buses have been diverted in the area as Cadent gas workers and the police have been pictured on Chester Road. The road runs into Manchester city centre, and is a major thoroughfare for vehicles heading from the Mancunian Way onto Deansgate.
Pictures from the scene show police closing the road running alongside Deansgate Square, with Cadent gas vans working on the issue.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has not been called to the scene, the emergency service has confirmed. READ MORE: First Oasis support act 'confirmed' for 2025 reunion tour and it's another set of Manchester legends Bus company Stagecoach warned of delays to passengers.
