Macaulay Culkin Cut Down a Real Tree Outside 'Home Alone' House, According to Owners

Home Alone turned the house that the movie was filmed at into an iconic landmark. But now we’re learning that Macaulay Culkin left another permanent mark on the property while filming.

The 44-year-old actor was only a child when he starred in the 1990 classic, which was the first in a long-running franchise.

A new documentary called The House From… offers some insight from the former owners of the home, which is located in Winnetka, Illinois – the Aberdshein family.

In particular, we learned that Macaulay cut down a real tree in the backyard while getting ready for Christmas. Keep reading to find out more… “My parents were watching the movie during the premiere and there’s a scene where Kevin [Macaulay's character] goes out into the backyard to cut himself a Christmas tree, so he cuts one in half,” Lauren Aberdshein recalled in a clip from the project, which was obtained by People. “My parents are sitting there and thinking, ‘Wow, they did a really good job filming that scene.
