M-Appeal Closes Further Sales on ‘Perfect Endings,’ ‘Sex,’ ‘Love’ and ‘Vera and the Pleasure of Others’ (EXCLUSIVE)
variety.comLeo Barraclough International Features Editor The Berlin-based sales agency M-Appeal has closed a host of new deals across their slate of recent films, including “Perfect Endings,” “Sex,” “Love,” and “Vera and the Pleasure of Others.”M-Appeal is attending the Asian Contents and Film Market, which sits alongside the Busan Film Festival.Gay rom-com “Perfect Endings,” by Teddy-winner Daniel Ribiero, has been picked up for France by Outplay Films.
The Brazilian film, which premiered earlier this year at Frameline, follows João (Artur Volpi), who is thrown into the dating world after breaking up with his boyfriend of 10 years.
At a crossroads in both his personal and professional life, he ends up directing amateur erotic films, while finding his way through the confusion of modern romance.Diego Carazo-Migerel Fougères, head of international sales and acquisitions at Outplay Films, told Variety: “Daniel Ribeiro’s latest film presents a unique opportunity to continue sharing his work with French audiences and we are thrilled to do so.
It’s a fresh modern take that stands out and offers something truly special.”As previously announced in Variety, the film was sold to North America (Dark Star Pictures and Uncork’d Entertainment), while Cinemien picked up the rights for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Poland, Italy and Portugal.Norwegian titles “Sex” and “Love,” from Dag Johan Haugerud’s trilogy about contemporary relationships and sexuality, have been sold to Imovision, which will release the film theatrically in Brazil.
