Scots armed police officers experienced a "lump in the throat" moment as they helped a woman give birth at the side of the road when her baby girl came earlier than expected.
PCs Matthew Pirie, 33, and Marcus Di Meola, 36, had only just checked in for their shift in Aberdeen about an hour before they were dispatched to help with an unusual incident.
A worried father had phoned the police to say that his expectant wife had gone into labour and that they were on-route to hospital.
Originally, they had planned to provide an escort but the situation changed rapidly, with the dad pulling over on the A92 in Aberdeen as the baby was on its way.Matthew and Marcus are both trained in enhanced first aid, and with the police office only a few minutes.
