Luke Humphries has been crowned winner of the PDC World Darts Championship after defeating Luke Littler 7-4 in a memorable final.It was the first time both men had reached this stage, with 16-year-old Littler shocking the world with his astonishing displays on the biggest stage.
World No 1 Humphries was the bookies' favourite ahead of the clash and averaged 103.67.While teen sensation Littler managed to average 101.13as the Alexandra Palace punters were kept entertained.Littler began the tournament hoping simply to 'win one game' and now has cemented himself as one of the most talked stars in the sport's 31-year history.
And many deem the St Helens teen a certainty to be included in the Premier League when it kicks-off next month. Meanwhile Humphries’ form has earned the Berkshire-born hero number one ranking.
Momentum in the final swung both ways before Humphries turned it on to take a 6-4 lead after being behind, then closed out to claim the title.Scottish heroes Gary Anderson and Peter Wright were both knocked out in the earlier rounds which helped open the pathway to the two Lukes.
