People who knew Nicholas Brutcher, the suspect in the killing of two Connecticut police officers, described him as "rowdy" and "always drinking."  In an interview with the New York Post, a neighbor of his brother, Nathaniel Brutcher, said that "Nick was the big rowdy one." The woman added that Nicholas, who the Post said was a divorced father, was a "big teddy bear."  Another neighbor told the outlet that Nicholas would visit his brother and that he was "always drinking."  "I don’t know much about [Nicholas], except he drinks a lot," he said. "The dude’s always drinking. He’d be around, checking on his brother." The same neighbor described Nathaniel Brutcher as a "man-child" who he claimed was into drugs.

Washington Post weather reporter Amudalat Ajasa wrote that researchers are worried that hotter temperatures caused by climate change are spurring a rise in "hate speech." In her Thursday report, titled, "Hotter days bring out hotter tempers, research finds," Ajasa cited two studies that show that because of climate change, hotter temperatures are inducing people to engage in "hate speech and hostile behavior." Ajasa wrote, "As temperatures around the world increase, scientists have documented large-scale environmental effects — rising sea levels, drought and famine, intense flooding and the disappearance of species. But increasingly, some researchers worry that higher temperatures might also contribute to people behaving badly." TRICARE, the health care program for active-duty service members, military retirees, reservists and their families, will drop more than a quarter of the pharmacies in its current network later this month, a move that will force an estimated 400,000 beneficiaries to find new pharmacies. The program said nearly 15,000 independent, community pharmacies will no longer be in the TRICARE network as of October 24.The network will still include more than 40,000 pharmacies across the country.

Steeman was killed aged just 22 after a horror crash at the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship Race 1 in Portugal last weekend. A southwestern Arizona woman who pleaded guilty to collecting four early ballots in the 2020 primary was sentenced Thursday to 30 days in jail and two years’ probation, with the judge saying he did not think she had accepted responsibility for her crime. The sentence for Guillermina Fuentes, a 66-year-old school board member and former mayor of the small border city of San Luis, caps a lengthy case that caught the eye of investigators the day of the August 2020 primary and eventually led to charges against Fuentes and another San Luis woman.

The 2023 Stagecoach Festival lineup was announced today for the 15th edition of the country music festival. Headlining will be Luke Bryan, his fourth time as a top billing, with Kane Brown and Chris Stapleton moving up to claim main attraction status as well.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The lineup for the 2023 Stagecoach Festival includes one very familiar veteran of the festivities, Luke Bryan, who will be making his fourth headlining appearance in the California desert, along with two stars who have made regular appearances at the festival but have moved up into headliner slots for the first time, Kane Brown and Chris Stapleton. Goldenvoice announced the performers and dates for the ’23 gathering Monday morning, just a little more than four months after the 2022 festival took place. The next fest will take place April 28 – 30, 2023, with passes going on sale Friday at 10 a.m. PT. Prices for passes range from $389 for advance general admission to $1,499 for the GA standing pit and $1,999 for prime reserved seating.

Luke Bryan, Kane Brown and Chris Stapleton are set to headline the three-night fest, which runs April 28-30, 2023 at Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. Festival passes will go on sale Friday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m.
