Gemma Owen has revealed her famous ex-footballer dad Michael Owen could enter the Love Island villa.Michael's teen daughter Gemma has been confirmed as a castmate on the eighth series of the hit ITV2 dating show, which returns Monday June 6 at 9pm.
Her dad shot to fame as a striker for the England national squad, who also played for Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Real Madrid and Stoke City during his impressive career.Gemma has clearly inherited her dad's sporty genes as the 19-year-old competes as a dressage rider at a high level - and describes herself as "very competitive."Speaking exclusively to Daily Star and other press before the show, Gemma both her mum and dad could make an appearance in the villa.Love Island fans will be well aware of the famous parents episodes which see the remaining Islanders surprised by their nearest and dearest after weeks of being apart from them.The heartwarming episodes often see the castmates overcome with emotion as they reunite with their relatives or friends.When asked whether footy legend Michael could set foot in the sunny Mallorca villa, Gemma replied: "Hopefully, that’ll be nice.
Hopefully I get that far, and hopefully my mum and dad will come. That’ll be [nice] to see them in the villa."Gemma also revealed her father would "definitely be watching" the series, and that he's "very supportive" of her going on the show.The brunette beauty said: "I think he definitely will be watching.
He’s never watched the show before. He’s obviously seen a few clips but he’s not a Love Island fan, so yeah I think he will be watching.
